Summer Slim Down Challenge Group!!

Ok – Summer is just around the corner!!  The kids have begun counting down the days until school is out, we are finally getting some warm temps here in the Midwest…and swimsuit season (ahhh!!!) is just around the corner!!!  Eeeeek!!!

A great program that I absolutely LOVE, is 21-Day Fix  In just 21 short days, most people lose 15 lbs.  Some more, some less — it is easy, doable, & fun!  30-min workouts, & easy to follow nutrition plan that TEACHES you how to eat clean – you are even allowed chocolate & WINE on this program!!!  The best part is you do a diff. workout everyday, so you don’t get bored!! That was the problem I had with a lot of fitness programs in the past….I got BORED!!!  :)  The 21-Day Fix has 7 diff, 30-min. workouts, plus a 10-min abs workout that you can add onto any day you choose!!  You do the 7 workouts for the week, then start over!  I’ve been doing this program for over a year now, & still love it.  I try others, but keep coming back.  I’m happy to say I’ve lost 30 lbs. & over 17 inches….& the best part — I’ve KEPT the weight off!!!  So many of these quick (a.k.a FAD diets), is sure you lose weight, but you gain it back PLUS some, because you did not learn HOW to eat healthy, or how to incorporate exercise into your lifestyle.  21-Day Fix has been a life-changer for me.


I’ve moved on now to Autumn’s newest program, the 21-Day Fix EXTREME !!  Great for those that have done the original 21-Day Fix….it is geared towards the intermediate to advanced fitness level.  Still 30-min workouts, but the nutrition plan is more strict, designed to get you totally shredded in just 21-days (no more chocolate or wine on this nutrition plan!)  So many of my customers (and myself included!) are having amazing results with this program!!  Its just 21-days….we can all do something for 21-days, right?  :)  It comes with 2 different eating plans – 1) strict & 2) countdown to competition that involves carb-cycling.  So you have variety & flexibility in your eating plans.

What is a Challenge Group?  A Challenge Group is a Closed Facebook group that I host with another Coach of mine, Tray Hall.  We’ve been friends since middle school, & now Beachbody Coaching is our passion.  We love helping others find their “Why” to wanting to become healthy, & see them succeed with pounds & inches lost!  We guide you through the 30-day Challenge, & supply you with tips, clean eating recipes, offer motivation & there for you as support.

Clean Pumpkin Spice Latte

I love Fall!  Crisp air, leaves changing color, warm & cozy sweaters, & PUMPKIN!!  Anything pumpkin I have a slight addiction to.  Pumpkin ice cream, pancakes, waffles, cookies, bread, pie, & of course Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL)!!  I remember the first time I had one, I was working downtown Chicago in the Sears Tower.  I would get one every morning on my way to work.  What a treat it was – I would literally go to bed each night excited to wake up & get my next PSL!  I was suck a Starbucks addict!!  Then I would be devastated when they would run out of the Pumpkin syrup which meant I would have to wait another year for it to come out again.

This year, I was shocked to learn how unhealthy the Starbucks PSL was!  All those years I was unknowingly consuming: high fructose corn syrup, Caramel color level IV that has been linked to Cancer, LOTS of sugar (a Grande has over 50 g!), & NO PUMPKIN!!!!  So, that spurred me to try to find a healthier way to make my own.  I tried about 3 different recipes, then found one I liked & tweaked it to my own liking.  Mine is A LOT cleaner – contains unsweetened vanilla almond milk, real pumpkin, & agave nectar in place of SUGAR!!!  Best of all, its always ‘available’ & I can make one anytime!

Below you’ll find the recipe along with nutritional information.  Try it & let me know what you think!!


Pumpkin Spice Latte

1 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk

3 T. pumpkin puree

1 T. agave nectar

1 tsp Vanilla extract

1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

6-8 oz strong brewed coffee (or 2 shots of espresso)



Combine almond milk, pumpkin, agave, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla in a small saucepan over a medium low heat.  Whisk everything together and as soon as the milk begins to simmer, shut off the heat and transfer the milk mixture to a blender.

Add the strong brewed coffee to the blender and blend for 10 seconds or until light and frothy.

Pour into your favorite mug.  Top with fresh nutmeg or more pumpkin pie spice, and enjoy!

Slim-down September 2014

Kids are back in school, and soon I will be too—I’m looking forward to getting back into our routines, especially when it comes to working out. I’ll be honest – I didn’t work out as much as I should have this Summer . That’s why I need YOU!! I’m kicking off a NEW 30-day Challenge Group on Tue., Sept. 2. Join the group so we can hold each other accountable!  Dust off that old Insanity, P90X, whatever you have, & let’s do this! I don’t care what workout program you are doing, let’s support & motivate one another. In this closed Facebook group, you’ll be given daily motivation, support, recipe & food ideas, & workout tips.  I can’t wait to see your ‘after’ pics!! 

What is Shakeology?

Shakeology is Beachbody’s nutrient dense shake that contains 17g of protein and over 70 vitamins and minerals.  It is a nutritional protein shake that provides a wide spectrum of healthy nutrients in a low-calorie formula.  Whether you use it as a meal replacement for weight loss or simply to ensure your body gets all the nutrients it needs for optimal health, Shakeology takes the guesswork out of nutrition. There is no way you can simply call this a “protein shake”, it is so much more.  It’s like taking a multi-vitamin daily, full of over 70 super foods that Beachbody has combed the Globe searching for and put all of it in one great tasting meal replacement shake.  It has even helped people battling autoimmune diseases, celiac, psoriasis, hypothyroidism, diabetes, the list goes on.  Eventhough Shakeology is not “certified” Gluten Free (because it is manufactured in a plant that makes items containing Gluten), it has been safely consumed by clients that are either gluten sensitive or have celiac.

Having Fun At Grandma’s!

Hi!  Thanks for checking out my blog.  I’m Heidi, a 35 yr old mother & wife of my husband for 16 years now.  My two adorable children are Jack, 5 yrs, & Lily, 3 yrs.  I currently live in Plainfield, IL, a Western suburb of Chicago.  I enjoy cooking & baking, & especially like trying new recipes.  I try to follow the “80/20″ rule & make 80%  (probably more than that even) clean eating, & the other 20%, well, I’m human!!

Last Fall of 2013 I caught myself in a downward spiral of bad eating habits coupled with not exercising.  I was sick of feeling sick, so I started to make small changes.  I got my thyroid medicine back on track, & then in January 2014 began working out with the program:  ChaLEAN Extreme (CLX) by one of my favorite people, Chalene Johnson.  After completing 1 round of CLX, in March I moved on to one of my FAVORITE programs, 21-Day Fix, another Beachbody program.  In 3 short weeks I dropped 10 lbs & 9 inches, & finally was beginning to feel “happy & healthy” again!  In April I decided to begin paying it forward by signing on to be a Beachbody Coach.  I wanted to help “End the Trend” of obesity in this world & let people know they are not alone & there is help out there.  Beachbody is an amazing company.

I absolutely LOVE being a Coach.  On top of being a Wife, Mom & Beachbody Coach, I’ve also decided to go back to College last Fall to be a Registered Nurse (RN).  I’m 1 year in & I should be in the Nursing program the Fall of 2015.

I’m originally from Appleton, Wisconsin, & my husband from Oshkosh, Wisconsin.  My husband also has his private pilot’s license & so we enjoy taking the occasional family trips with him flying us in his 1947 Cessna 195.
